Wednesday Health Check:

Good afternoon Friends! I trust you are having a momentous week so far and are looking forward to our Wednesday Health Check. I trust they are making a difference in your life.

Today I want us to explore the natural healing foods against over the counter medicine. The era we are living in has emphasized the importance of having a healthy immune system to make it in this pandemic. The emphasis is on eating healthy foods that will enable the body to fight against any form of viruses.

As I continue to study the word of God, I have realized that from the beginning, God gave man food that has healing abilities. Herbs and fruits were supposed to be our meat, Gen.1:29, but that changed after the fall of man. But even then, the man continued to live for long years up until the nineteenth century. The life span in the 21st century is slowly declining as more people have become too dependent on over the counter medicine.

We are profoundly grateful to God for a breakthrough that came in the form of medicine. Some surgeries were not possible in the past centuries, which are saving many lives in this era. With that said, not every illness requires medical science intervention. There are healing foods that we can turn to instead of over the counter medicine.

I learned about these alternatives after two courses of antibiotics failed, and I felt helpless; up until a friend advised me to consider natural healing foods.

The turning point for me was in the early weeks of the pandemic in my country. I needed the lemons, garlic, and ginger. When I went to the Supermarkets, they were not available since people were stock buying. At the time, I was battling severe flu symptoms, and we were still nervous about going to the doctor’s room.

The Miracle Healing Foods

When I got home, I started reading on healing foods that can cure flu symptoms besides lemons and honey, etc. As I read one book, I discovered that onions have many benefits and are mostly used to cure respiratory infections, skin problems, and sometimes are used in scalp and hair treatments. Yet it’s the most undermined vegetable in the house. I decided to try them, and I was surprised to find them effectively than over the counter medicine.

From that point, I took time to read on other foods that have healing abilities, and I discovered that most fruits and vegetables, and herbs have sufficient vitamins and minerals needed to boost our immune system, provided we eat them consistently.

 Some foreigners among the Israelites had a strong craving for other kinds of food. Even the Israelites started crying again and said, “If only we had meat to eat! Remember all the free fish we ate in Egypt and the cucumbers, watermelons, leeks, onions, and garlic we had?  But now we’ve lost our appetite! Everywhere we look there’s nothing but manna!” Num.11:4-6

The Israelites were able to bear the burden placed on them by their taskmasters through healing foods as we read on the abovementioned scripture. We can observe that when life became hard in the desert, they could only remember the superfoods that strengthen the immune system, fish and cucumbers, watermelons, leeks, onions, and garlic. I am sure the list was endless, but we can take note that even though they were slaves in Egypt, they ate healthy foods that supported a healthy immune system.

They also did not know that manna was a superfood and the presence of God among them was more than enough to keep them healthy. They only focused on what was familiar and missed an opportunity to continue to explore the lifestyle God was introducing to them.

That is a call to us to live a lifestyle which strengthens our immune system and preserve our lives for an opportunity of a long-life span.

In the next weeks, I will be sharing one superfood, and we can explore the health benefits and the fun facts about that superfood. The chosen superfood for next week will be onions. From next week, I will be introducing a poll where you can vote for the healing food you want us to explore.

  1. Our health is important and we should take care of our bodies. I know I never cared for eating much fruit. I always ate more vegetables then fruit. But for the last two years now I am eating more fruit. No canned fruit but fresh fruit and fresh vegetables. Along with exercising five days a week.
