Choose to Conquer and Not Be Defeated

I caught up with my enemies and conquered them, and didn’t turn back until the war was won!  I pinned them to the ground and broke them to pieces. I finished them once and for all; they’re as good as dead. You’ve placed your armor upon me and defeated my enemies, making them bow low at my feet. You’ve made them all turn tail and run, for through you I’ve destroyed them all! Forever silenced, they’ll never taunt me again. Psalm 18:37-40

Choose Christ Jesus and Conquer and Not be Defeated

Monday Motivation: Greetings, friends. I trust you are well and refilled and fueled up for this week’s assignments. I had a great time in the presence of the Lord, and I hope you were able to find some time to enter into the presence of the Lord and worship Him without any distractions.

Today I want to encourage those who have been experiencing endless warfare and contemplate giving in and allowing the enemy to win. I want to remind you that you have the power of Christ living in you, the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you, and that is the power of the Holy Spirit. 

God is always available to fight our battles, but we are the ones who must choose to give the struggles of life to God or contend with the enemy on our own. When we decide to give our battles to God, we choose to conquer, but when we choose to fight in our strength and wisdom, we choose to be defeated, for God is the only One who knows how to fight our battles, and He knows how to defeat our enemies. 

 When Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you one of us or one of our enemies?” He answered, “Neither One! I am here as the commander of the Lord’s army.” Immediately, Joshua bowed with his face touching the ground and worshiped. Joshua 5:13:14

We learn from the scripture as mentioned above, Joshua met with the Lord Jesus, and immediately he asked Him if He was going to fight for them or against them. The Lord Jesus gave Joshua an answer that made it clear that Joshua was the One who was supposed to choose. When Joshua recognized that it was the Lord, he immediately bowed himself down and surrendered the battle to the Lord Jesus. 

From that point, the Lord Jesus fought all the battles and wars that came against Israel’s nation under Joshua’s leadership. As long as they remained obedient, God gave them victory. 

“I love You [fervently and devotedly], O Lord, my strength.” The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and the One who rescues me; My God, my rock and strength in whom I trust and take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my high tower—my stronghold. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; And I am saved from my enemies. Psalm 18:1-3

King David, a man of war and known as a man after God’s own heart, never fought any battle without inquiring of the Lord. As mentioned above, we learn from the scripture that David had a good relationship with God, and he relied and dependent on God for everything; as a result, God rescued the king from all his enemies. 

King David chose God, which meant he decided to conquer with God on his side and was never defeated. 

On the opposite, we learn about King Saul, who did not choose God and experienced defeat endless times. He lost his kingdom only because he did not choose God; this king decided to fight battles in his understanding, strength, and wisdom, and his story did not end well; even the manner of his death was shameful. When he refused to do things God’s way, he was automatically choosing defeat. 

We learn from our reference scripture that king David pursued his enemies, overtook them, and did not stop up until they were all destroyed because He had the backing of the power of God with him and for him. 

Today serves as an invitation to all of us to choose God and conquer and not be defeated. To choose Christ who conquered death and gave us power and authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, Luk.10:19.
